Dear Readers — I have introduced a hardcover version of Land of The Story Tellers, for the 2nd edition of this story book collection. It’s a husky book at 532 pages, a beautiful hardcover for those who like the feel of a hardbound book of my storytelling. It’s available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Ingram.
Why Parents Choose St. Joseph’s Indian School
Saint Joseph Indian School, has been a haven for the Sioux children for nearly one hundred years. Living on the reservations is a hard scrabble existence. Most Indians live in battered tin trailers. Poverty and child abuse are serious problems. Drug cartels have infiltrated the reservations, and the evil presence of gangs looms over the children. Through the enveloped dysfunction in the family core, some parents have been incarcerated. I’ve seen stumbling alcoholism at high noon with my own eyes on the reservation.
Saint Joseph Indian School has served the Lakota children and their families, since 1927. Their mission includes restoring in the culture of those Native Americans children, and healing the broken family circle from where they were born. Over two hundred children live on campus with their house parents — at no cost to their parents.
Lakota children from all nine reservations are welcome with open arms — Pine Ridge, Rosebud, Crow Creek, Lower Brules, Cheyenne River, Standing Rock, Flandreau, Sisseton, and Yankton Reservation.
Author Stephen Deck has loved and supported the children for 34 years . He made certain they had their winter hats and coats to stay warm, and the school supplies to grow with confidence. Twenty-five percent of the author’s profits from Land of The Story Tellers, will be donated to Saint Joseph Indian School.
